Medical, Rehabilitation & Therapy

Global Neuromuscular Activation™ is our unique ability and focus for the G-NAT™ VMS™ product line and protocols.

The VMS™ system allows for gentle and effective therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation that can re-educate the nervous system while strengthening muscles and stabilizing joints. You can quickly stimulate an autonomic response to a designed and controlled demand for equilibrium.

The G-NAT™ protocols involuntarily transition the patient from the parasympathetic nervous system into the sympathetic. This is done with a gentle and positive physical trigger into the sympathetic from a neurological confirmation of unstable equilibrium bringing the sympathetic on line for potential defensive action. Unlike the emotional trigger into the sympathetic, known as the Flight or Fight (FOF) response, which brings with it a lot of negative baggage that more often than not out weighs any benefits. The emotionally triggered FOF response in the short term has its survival benefits of heightened strength and senses, but the long term physiological effects can be very negative. Repeated FOF experiences can result in neurotic symptoms, increased resting heart rate and decreased max heart rate. Negative cortisol production and adrenal response is normally experienced from the FOF response.

The benefits of exercising in a positive sympathetic state are tremendous, and G-NAT™ does it without the negative side effects. We invite you to read the independent laboratory testing results in the published Clinical Effectiveness Review as a clinical summary of its impact and efficiencies.

The potentials are limitless, and open up a myriad of new applications for the knowledgable and experienced medical practitioner and physical therapist.

The G-NAT™ VMS™ hand and foot position and exercise form used for particular protocols safely regulates the muscular and cardiovascular intensity levels, making it easy to control the response and results.

As illustrated, the first person is doing the same exercise as the second person. Both are activating and recruiting the same myofascial and tensional lines, and programming the integration and transition from line to line. But they are each experiencing a very different level of intensity. It is very easy for the practitioner to progress the protocol and results realtime, and at the patients individual capacity.

G-NAT™ MultiForce™

The G-NAT™ MultiForce™ Band Banks™ give the medical practitioner and physical therapist more therapeutic exercise options with its unique multi-point force selection. The therapist can utilize a single point of applied resistant force for traditional rehab methods, or implement two or more additional and varying points of resistance at different, or same, levels and/or angles to stimulate a larger activation and recruitment of muscles, and myofascial and tensional lines for a more integrated and autonomic result.
The Band Banks™ are literally loaded with a multitude of varying high duty cycle resistance bands that that are conveniently arranged for a quick connection and utilization, while storing the other bands ready for use in seconds. The Band Banks™ patent pending systems give the physical therapist an instant choice of high or low angles of force, and the ability to create horizontal force that will follow the patient up and down, always maintaining horizontal resistance, as seen in the illustration to the right.

The Band Banks™ follow the movement of the patient around the floor, allowing for more natural movement therapy. The proprietary bands used in the Band Banks™ provide a more uniform level of applied force throughout the range of motion with a natural power curve increase rate, instead of increasing quickly in short distances.

The Band Banks™ allow the physical therapist to set up and duplicate real world forces the patient will experience on the job or experience in their targeted sport. Being able to duplicate the experienced forces, allows the therapist to exercise the patient in the movements they will experience on the job, but with a control frequency of repetition, resistance and intensity that will positively inspire applicable strength, coordination and stability during that movement. This will improve the physical performance of the patient in a work environment and reduce risk of injury.

Mental Health & Wellness: VMS™ Management of Stress and PTSD

  • Activates a controlled and positive sympathetic response.
  • Global Neuromuscular Activation via the sympathetic nervous system quickly improves the physical condition of the patient while improving confidence and a sense of well-being.
  • Detaches sympathetic reactions and sensations from the traumatic event or memory minimizing the accidental push into undesired memories or flashbacks.
  • Allows therapy to focus on the emotional issue, without the interference of negative sympathetic distraction.
  • The patient becomes comfortable in the sympathetic state re-programming emotional distress into a positive and recognizable physical sensation.
  • Proper global physical stress will increase blood flow to the brain and organs improving glandular activity and hormonal balance.
  • Global neurological stimuli produces rapid physical progress increasing motivation and optimism easing the mental challenges of PTSD as associated with a related or unrelated injury.

Neuromuscular Re-education (NMR)

Not all therapists focus on the soft tissue injuries, as primary focus is manipulation of the joints in the spine. Where adjustments and manipulation can do more harm than good, is when there are injuries to the nervous system, spine and extremities, due to the presence of adhesions in the soft tissues. The adhesions in the muscles, tendons, etc. should be treated first before doing any manipulation. Neuromuscular Reeducation is an energetic soft tissue technique which focuses on rehabilitation of the soft tissue. Treatment is non-invasive, and helps in restoring proper muscle function and movement so that the body heals and performs at its optimum level.

Goals of NMR

  • Break down the soft tissue adhesions, restrictions.
  • Release entrapped nerves.
  • Restore flexibility, strength and function of the muscles and tendons.
  • Restore normal texture, tension, and movement of the tissue.

Post Treatment

Many patients experience remarkable improvement in their degree of pain and range of motion. Typically, treatment regions will feel tender for a day or two and then the tenderness subsides along with increase in mobility and strength. It is important for a patient to carefully maintain a balance of activity and rest.

The potentials are limitless, and open up a myriad of new applications for the knowledgable and experienced medical practitioner and physical therapist. Ridding the body of adhesions is only part of the treatment. With pain comes “guarded behaviors” like limited range of motion, and limited mobility. Post treatment there is an opportunity to make use of the reduction in pain, improved range of motion and the enhanced strength, to push beyond the previous limitations, and to acclimate the brain and body to new and enhanced functions. It is important to take advantage of this time, so as not to fall back into “guarding” the body when it is no longer necessary, but still very familiar. To avoid risk of re-injury, the patient HAS to re-train oneself to actively and consciously (or unconsciously) move the injured region through its full range of motion.

G-NAT™ Movements involuntarily activate the neuromuscular system throughout the entire body (globally). G-NAT Movements, which are closed chain postures and musculoskeletal forms, are positions the body is required to hold, and then transition to the next in sequence. These multiple positions require such a large number of muscle to be recruited, that the autonomic systems overcomes the conscious awareness of guarded imbalance and causes the body to balance the tensional lines (integrated myofascial lines from hand to foot, hand to hand …). In addition, they allow the neuromuscular system to once again become aware of the correct connection to the muscle and its normal range of motion.

It is not the burden of the practitioner to convince the patient to forget about the fear and stop guarding the movement. Instead, the G-NAT requires so much attention throughout the body, that the conscious mind is not allowed to focus on and guard any specific muscle of myofascial line, causing the body to autonomically respond with balanced tension.

Prior to manipulation, the balanced tension and muscular joint stabilization resulting from a particular set of G-NAT Movements, naturally relaxes the musculoskeletal system and allows for comfortable manipulation throughout the entire vertebral column, not just in the focused areas limited to electronic stim pads. The result; It takes less time to relax the muscle around the joints preparing for gentle manipulation.

Post manipulation, another set of G-NAT Movements restore strength and joint stability, encouraging the manipulation or skeletal alignment to hold position for a longer time between treatments. This allows the practitioner to produce greater gains and therapeutic results in less time.

G-NAT exercises the muscle connection from the brain to muscle, instead to muscle to brain. Brain to muscle connection is required for normal autonomic activation and recruitment of muscle.

Note: Properly executed protocols are required to achieve and maximize all the above potential benefits and results.
